Commitments
our vision
A RESPONSIBLE GARMENT IS, ABOVE ALL, A GARMENT THAT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME
Soeur champions a certain vision of sustainable fashion — pieces that are passed down and stand the test of time. It guides our ambition to make each of our collections more ethical, more refined, and more respectful of our planet, season after season, today and for tomorrow.
In embracing this approach to sustainability, we place emphasis on the recyclability of our products at end of life by prioritising unmixed materials. In 2023, nearly 70% of our textile pieces were made from a single material.
We believe in timeless fashion that transcends seasons and can be worn year-round. That is why we created a "Permanents" collection and carried many styles over into our offer.
OUR FIRST PRINCIPLE
LASTING AND LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS
In 2023, over 65% of pieces were produced through nearshoring (Europe & Maghreb).
In our vision of slow fashion, we focus not only on the durability of our pieces but also on the durability of our
relationships, building lasting partnerships with our suppliers. 25% of them have been with us for at least five
years and a third since the very beginning. These suppliers know our products, our standards, and work alongside us to improve
our designs. That is why we do not limit ourselves by their geographical location. However, we make every effort
to develop new local partnerships, in Europe or the Maghreb.
These lasting commitments give them the financial stability needed to implement social programmes
in their factories and, in turn, improve their own production chains.
Our conviction
KNOWING MORE TO MAKE BETTER: TRACEABILITY
This is the first priority of our CSR approach, and it is paramount. It is through traceability that we carry out social audits,
improve our processes, and ensure transparency for our customers by knowing the location and the methods used at each
stage of our production.
In March 2022, Soeur joined the ICS (Initiative for Compliance and Sustainability), in order to assess the working conditions of its
suppliers and support them in their improvement journey.
This allows us to reduce social and environmental risks, while also continuously improving the quality of our products
and their durability.
In 2023, 96% of tier 1* suppliers were audited on the basis of rigorous social methodologies, as were 35% of our
materials suppliers.
*Did YOU know?
The manufacturing chain of a garment is made up of 4 main stages: production and extraction of raw materials,
transformation of raw materials (spinning), weaving, knitting, dyeing or printing, and finally assembly. As a brand,
we are in direct contact with assembly suppliers (tier 1) and sometimes with materials suppliers (tier 2).
Encouraged by the implementation of the AGEC law, we ask our suppliers about the origin of the preceding stages.
our environmental impact
TOWARDS MORE RESPONSIBLE COLLECTIONS
We take care to prioritise the use of more sustainable raw materials in the development of our collections.
To this end, we have created our own eco-responsible standard to serve as our guide. Without ever ceasing to question ourselves, we
chose in 2023 to revisit our definition of eco-responsibility at Soeur to make it more demanding. Viscose and Oeko-Tex
certification are no longer sufficient to be considered eco-responsible at Soeur (except for silk).
The Spring–Summer 2024 collection already comprises 53% eco-responsible pieces.
Regarding manufacturing processes, we are in constant pursuit of techniques that reduce our impact, whether in terms of
resource use or emissions into the environment. Collaborations are often an opportunity for us
to experiment with new materials: with Léandra Medine Cohen, we selected from stocks of fabrics used in
previous collections. With K-way®, we tested a 100% recycled material developed by their team.
our commitment
A COMMITTED TEAM
We firmly believe that the brand's commitment depends on a shared commitment from all our staff
to carry and nurture our projects and our vision. In 2023, 70% of the headquarters team received training on CSR issues.
